Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya

Duration:   2 ½ days
Departs:  8.00am

Famed for its endless pulsing, surging columns of wildebeests migrating across rolling plains is the Maasai Mara, one of the worlds last remaining ecosystems harmonizing animals and nature.   The annual migration of the wildebeests, zebras and gazelles from the plains of the Serengeti that cross the Tanzanian border and rivers to reach the Mara's grassland occurs from late June through to August .  They are tracked by predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, Hyenas and circled by hungry vultures.  This is truly a sight to behold, come watch the journey unfold.

Let Mission Tour and Travel drive you to the Maasai Mara where wildlife is abundant and the gentle rolling grasslands ensure that animals are never out of sight, in particular THE BIG FIVE.  The first sight of this natural wonderland is breathtaking.  Here, the great herds of shuffling elephants browse among the rich tree-studded grasslands with an occasional sighting of a solitary and ill-tempered rhino. Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, topi, eland and many more species of plains' game offer a rich choice of food for the dominant predators; lion, leopard and cheetah which hunt in this pristine wilderness. In the Mara river, hippos submerge at the approach of a vehicle only to surface seconds later to snort and grumble their displeasure. Seemingly drowsy crocodile sunbathe on the river banks, mouth agape and waiting with subtle cunning for prey at which to strike with lightning swiftness.

The Maasai Mara pulses with raw energy as an array of animals go about their daily lives.  Besides the animals, come see the Maasai a proud semi-nomadic cattle-rearing people with a fascinating culture.
